TRAVEL TO...

NEW BUFFALO MICHIGAN

There is nothing more relaxing in the summer than a weekend getaway away from the city. New Buffalo is the cutest town with great antique shops and delicious restaurants. Plus, it's only an hour from Chicago. Here are my NB favorites.

Oink's
A New Buffalo institution, Oink's is packed every night. I think it's just as much for the goofy pig theme and decorative nostalgia covering the walls, as much as the ice cream. I can't go without getting a scoop of Black Cherry with sprinkles.

Lovell & Whyte
Another fabulous home store with great style. Coffee table books, furniture, dog toys, hand-knit children's dolls, are all part of the mix.

Susan Fredman Home
The sister store to it's counterpart in the city, this lovely boutique has everything for a beach home from fun pillows to wood furniture.

Bentwood Tavern
This is one of my all-time favorite restaurants. Everything I've ever had here is excellent and I absolutely love the modern, chic decor. I recommend the tuna tartar, fig and proscciuto pizza, corn pudding, and signature Jenny's Asian chicken.

Red Arrow Road House
Yummy food in a casual atmosphere. The broasted chicken, burgers, and quesadillas can't be beat.

The Whistle Stop
Hearty sandwiches, gigantic muffins, and great home items like cards and serving-ware, make this my top choice for lunch.
